About the Role
Reporting to the IT Manager, the Systems Administrator performs hands-on technical work involving the installation, configuration, and maintenance of servers, storage systems, and enterprise applications. The role also focuses on cybersecurity, backup and disaster recovery, and performance optimization to ensure business continuity and system uptime.
Duties and Responsibilities
Administer and maintain physical and virtual server environments (Windows Server, VMware, Hyper-V).
Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and file services.
Perform regular system updates, patching, and optimization.
Configure and maintain storage systems (e.g., Dell PowerVault SANs or similar).
Manage Microsoft 365 tenant administration, including user provisioning and email security.
Collaborate with network engineers on firewall, switch, and VPN management.
Maintain backup and disaster recovery systems, including scheduled tests and reporting.
Implement and enforce cybersecurity standards and endpoint protection policies.
Monitor system alerts, performance metrics, and capacity planning.
Document system configurations, inventories, and standard operating procedures.
Support IT projects such as server migrations, cloud integrations, and system upgrades.
Provide Tier 3 escalation support for complex user or infrastructure issues.
Participate in on-call rotation and after-hours support for critical systems.
Work Environment
This position is hybrid remote, combining remote system administration with on-site presence for maintenance, upgrades, or emergency response. Evening or weekend work may be required during scheduled maintenance windows or outages.
